Mentoring Corner

Vera has enjoyed learning from folk that she has been privileged to supervise and mentor either as a College of Midwives conditional registrant, or as a UBC midwifery new practitioner or student undertaking a clinical practicum.  Some people undertook more than one placement. The majority are now practicing throughout the province. Vera is delighted to have participated with her clients in each person’s journey to practice as a BC registered midwife.

“MCNS is pleased to mention Christina New that joined our team from beginning January 2020 until the end of February 2020 to undertake her 3rd year UBC midwifery degree clinical placement. Midwifery students bring enthusiasm, caring and current academic knowledge that is appreciated. We thank Christina for her contribution and wish her well as she continues her midwifery journey”.

We thank every midwife who spent time as a student in MCNS, as well as the many medical, nurse practitioner and international midwife students that have passed through the practice over the years for shorter periods of time to obtain an understanding of BC’s model of midwifery care.

Vera has always appreciated exchanging ideas and ways of being.

She hopes to find a way to continue mentoring students, with the assistance of her clients, in her current partial midwifery practice.
